Prince Fatty, a British producer who gained a following for his Reggae remakes of Hip Hop songs, will be playing in Hong Kong along with drummer / vocalist Horseman on Saturday, December 21st.
Prince Fatty’s music pays homage to the authentic Jamaican sounds of 1970’s Rock Steady, Ska, and Dub, while updated for wider audiences with the familiar Hip Hop lyrics.
The producer and his vocalist will be playing at XXX Gallery for their first appearance ever in Hong Kong. As much a student of classic Reggae, as a producer himself, you can expect a night of amazing tunes.
Prince Fatty has gained additional notoriety recently as his re-working of Old Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”, found its way onto the popular American TV series Breaking Bad.
A sample of his remakes include the following:
Cypress Hill’s “Insane In the Brain”
O.D.B.’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”
Snoop Dogg’s “Gin & Juice”
Prince Fatty has worked with several big names in music, including people such as Lily Allen, A Tribe Called Quest, The Brand New Heavies, Capleton, Luciano and Reggae legend, Gregory Isaacs.
Horseman and Prince Fatty are bringing 30kg of dubplates with them to Hong Kong, so you can be certain this will be a Christmas feast for your ears!
The pair will be supported by Hidden Dragon, Rayshizzle, Hope One, The Groove Thief, Stef:funn, Alex Croft, and Blood Dunza
