Action-packed paintings featuring characters with animal heads, sculptures of well-dressed monsters, and much more awaits at Above Second Gallery’s group show “Pop” that opens on Friday, July 18th.
The exhibit features paintings, sculptures, and typography from eight talented artists from around the world.
A standout includes art by Joram Roukes, whose work often depicts characters in contemporary sports uniforms and Nikes, with the head of an animal grafted roughly on top. The paintings are typically filled with action and sometimes violence.

Participating Spanish painter and muralist Okuda has an amazing use of color and is known for his work creating imagery with bright geometric patterns.
Gemma O’Brien is a gifted typographer and illustrator from Australia. Have a quick look at her stunning work!
Artist Tristan Eaton creates huge pieces using only spray paint. Check out the Versace crest he painted on a building during the Pow Wow Arts Festival in Hawaii! Very impressive!
Also participating in the show are L.A.-based duo, Cyrcle, who contributed several large-scale pieces to last year’s “Work In Progress” show curated by May Wong, founder of Above Second.
Rounding out the exhibition are graffiti artists Cope2, a New York pioneer, and Frenchman Kongo, who emulates the style of graffiti’s early days.
