Friday night Volar is hosting a special d.j. set by Kitsune creative heads Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki. Haven’t heard of Kitsuné yet? These guys are major figures in contemporary music and fashion.

For those that don’t know, Kitsuné is both a record label and a high-end fashion brand based in Paris. In line with contemporary times, they are multi-disciplined, harnessing a collective of talent that includes d.j.s, musicians, graphic artists, clothing designers, an architect, and other creative types. This is an ideal approach in creating a movement, since it allows for synergy between their creative core.

Musically, the Kitsuné label is known for their outstanding compilations which have gone on to define one of the most interesting sounds currently heard in contemporary music. Although the music varies from artist to artist, it often contains a brilliant mixture of catchy hooks that blend dirty Rock, Disco, and Electronic elements together. Artists who appear on their label take up the prime time spots on the world’s most sophisticated dance-floors. We’re talking the type of songs that push the crowds over the edge! The artists they’ve worked with include: The Klaxons, Digitalism, VHS or Beta, Simian Mobile Disco, Hot Chip, Wolfmother, Black Strobe, Captain Comatose and many more.

Their latest compilation, BoomBox is a collaboration with the top underground club night in London where cutting-edge fashion is often debuted.

Kitsuné takes a global approach with their fashion brand. Known for high-quality fabrics, and classic cuts, they seek out the finest manufacturers internationally. Their line includes products made everywhere from Japan to France and Scotland. Kitsuné’s commitment to high standards has resulted in a sales network that includes several of the world’s most discriminating fashion retailers including: Colette, Barney’s, Isetan, and Dover Street Market.

Apart from their flagship base in Paris, Kitsuné has recently begun to take its brand of fashion and music on the road. A recent project entailed opening a temporary shop, Boutique Kitsuné Maison, in the style capital of Milan. Check out this video of the temporary store.

To get more of an idea of their music, have a look at their MySpace page, or check out videos of their projects on Daily Motion.

Due to its proximity to Halloween, Friday night’s party at Volar also features several added attractions. There will be live tattoo artists (both permanent and temporary,) as well as free body piercing!

The party is free for Volar members. There is a fee of $200 HKD for non-members that includes one Jägermeister drink.
