The new Ralph Lauren flagship store in Causeway Bay is indeed impressive. It’s been a year in the making, transforming the corner of Caroline Centre from a modern office building into a stunning Art Deco facade.
Passerby are unlikely to remember the former Mercedes dealership that used to fill the space. The new details, including hanging plants and faux hedges on the rooftop, complete the miraculous makeover.
The exterior features stonework and massive two-story windows that give a feeling of grandeur to what was once an ordinary space.
Teams of craftsman have been working around the clock for nearly a year, significantly modifying the formerly sterile building exterior into an edifice worthy of the brand’s image.
The interior design is no slouch either. Inside it’s equally well appointed, with ample wood paneling to match the brand’s vintage gentlemen’s club aesthetic.
The store is also smartly segmented, providing a boutique experience within the two-floor flagship. As you walk through the space, multiple Ralph Lauren lines are available, including their ready-to-wear and made-to-measure collections. The flagship also offers exclusive products only sold at this particular shop, such as a crocodile jacket.
The menswear collection is located on the first floor, while womenswear and handbags are on the ground floor.
In addition to the fashion selections spread out among the sprawling 20,000 square feet, the store also has a cozy bar room that serves classic cocktails and cakes.
To complete the atmosphere, vintage pieces are scattered around the shop, often interspersed with new merchandise made by Ralph Lauren.
Numerous non-Ralph Lauren accessories can be found as well, including classic items with a contemporary flair – such as a designer chessboard made with python skin.
Similar to their Central store, they make use of video screens that show imagery related to the brand, almost like stained glass windows. This particular one may have been a detail from “Bridle Path at Hyde Park” by French painter, Octave Denis Victor Guillonnet (which is owned by Ralph Lauren.) The screens are facing the high foot traffic corners of the store, near Leighton Road.
