New York fashion brand / indie record label Mishka took over Loading, one of Hong Kong’s top street wear boutiques to launch an impressive pop-up shop on Thursday.
The opening drew a large crowd that had people lining up along Granville Road. The turnout was excellent and included several prominent members of Hong Kong’s underground music scene.
The wide range of clothing and accessories featured everything from t-shirts, jeans, and tank tops, to mugs, wallets, and ashtrays. A special limited edition Hong Kong t-shirt was also available for sale.
The pop-up shop will run for one month until September 9th, when LOADING resumes its multi-brand format.
One highlight of the event were the custom Mishka cupcakes, a fun touch that reinforced one of the brand’s most well known designs.
Mishka graphics are equal parts comic book art and vintage horror movie poster. In some cases, the amateurish, hand drawn quality gives them an almost cute factor.
Many of the graphics are also something of a remix of well known logos or familiar brands, updated with attitude and Mishka’s distinct style.
Donning hats, t-shirts, and bags, many of the guests wore the Мишка brand to the pop-up shop opening. Looking around the room, new items were constantly being snatched up for purchase.
