Trapped in urban Hong Kong, where you can go for years without smelling fresh cut grass, it’s actually memorable on the rare occasion that you do catch the faint scent of nature.
Many of us want more green in our daily lives, but suffer from busy schedules and a lack of space to grow plants. A local company called Lilliput Tales* has come up with a solution that requires very little time and effort.
The solution is a mossarium – basically, a glass jar filled with a little landscape of rocks and moss. Think of it as sort of like a fish tank, with no fish! It only requires a spritz of water every few weeks and very little attention thereafter. It’s much easier than growing plants, and less cleanup than a fish tank!
Best of all, mossariums can be personalized with your own individual choice in decor.
For a little inspiration, have a look at Google images of mossariums.
For more information, check out Lilliput Tales’ website or visit their showroom in Wanchai (by appointment only). Additionally, the indie boutique Kapok on Sun Street (parallel to Star Street,) also stocks info on their moss creations.
(*The name ‘Lilliput Tales’ is derived from the land of Lilliput from the book Gulliver’s Travels. The Lilliputians were tiny people just six inches tall.)
